Services and Important Information

Mail Center Location for Package Services

We are located on the lower level of Pruett Book Center. When you receive a notification that you have received a package, you will need to come to the Mail Center to pick it up.

Package Delivery Notifications

When you receive a package delivery notification from the shipper, please be patient. Your package is not ready to pick up until you have received an email from no-reply@pb.com . Once you have received this email, you may come retrieve your package from the Mail Center. We do appreciate your patience in this area as we sometimes handle 300+ packages a day.

Picking up Mail from the mail center

90% of our packages are processed through our electronic locker system. When you receive an email from noreply@pb.com, it will indicate which locker system your mail is located in. There is a Lion side and a Bell Tower side (named for the picture that appears on the lockers). You can pull up the QR code on your phone and scan it on the appropriate side (making sure your brightness is turned all the way up). There is also an option to enter a six-digit pin code on each kiosk.

Once the computer recognizes the reservation, your photo will be taken and you will sign the screen to receive your package. The appropriate locker will pop open and you can simply close it once you have collected your belongings.

If your package is too large for a locker, or the locker system is full, you may receive an email with a blue text box that says your package is not in a locker and that you need to pick it up from the mail center. You can come to our front desk to pick up such a package Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm.

Expired Mail

Mail not picked up within 48 hours of receiving a notification will be removed from the locker system and held in the mail center until you can pick it up. This is necessary to make space for incoming mail.

Addressing Campus Mail

No mail should be addressed to dormitories or office buildings but should be addressed to a student (using their full name) or to a faculty/staff member or office/department. No stamp is required for campus mail.

Incoming mail

Every student will be assigned a 5-digit virtual mailbox number for help route his or her mail efficiently. Mail that arrives without a box number may have delayed delivery. For new students, your virtual mailbox number will be in your Welcome Home folder that you receive on move in day.

All incoming mail should be addressed using the following format:

First and Last Name of Student (no nicknames)
FHU Box #####
158 E. Main St.
Henderson, TN 38340

Use the name that is represented in your student email address.

Example: If your email address was tom.jones@students.fhu.edu you would receive mail as Tom Jones, not Tommy Jones or Thomas Jones.

If there is no second address line when ordering, put the 5-digit virtual box number as the middle name of the intended recipient.

Frequently Asked Questions

what methods of payment do you accept?
You may pay with cash, credit card, or debit card.
Personal checks are not accepted, and you cannot charge postage to your student account.
May I send Packages from the Mail Center?
Yes, we offer all the package services (USPS, UPS, FedEx) you will need in order to mail your package. We will help you select the best way for sending your items and can also help with packaging. You can save a little money by having your items prepackaged and taped up. If you do not have packaging supplies, we do have some that you can purchase. Taping up a small box is .25 cents. Larger boxes which require more tape will be .50 cents.
Can I send a personal gift to someone on campus?
Yes, feel free to bring gifts down to the Mail Center. We will create a barcode for it and an email notification will be sent to inform the person they need to come pick up a package.
what if my package is damaged?

Packages are treated “as-is” from the carrier. We handle packages as carefully as we can to minimize damage in the mail center. If your package arrives with evident damage, FHU’s mail center will make a note of that upon receipt. Filing a claim is the responsibility of the recipient. We will assist you, if possible, but we are not responsible for items that arrive damaged.

What if I am expecting something perishable?

If you are expecting something perishable, please email mailcenter@fhu.edu and let us know. Packages are not always labeled properly and this will help us process them more efficiently.  Once we receive your item, you will get an email directly from the mail center letting you know you have received a perishable item and that it needs to be picked up as soon as possible. We have very limited temperature-controlled storage space and cannot guarantee against spoilage if items are not picked within 24 hours of being received.

I need to get a US Passport. Where may I obtain one?
Henderson Post Office
205 Crook Ave
Henderson, TN 38340
What happens if I cannot pick up my package?

You may forward your email to a friend and that person can show their FHU ID to retrieve your mail. Please note, any items not picked up within 30 days will be returned to the sender.
