A special fundraiser benefiting the work of Mid-South Youth Camp will be held 4:30 pm to 7 pm Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, at Wallace-Gano Cafeteria on Freed-Hardeman University’s campus. Tickets are $15 for guests 12 years and older, $10 each for 6-11 years old and free for children 5 and younger. Tickets can be purchased by card, check or cash from any MSYC board member, at the door or by calling Christy Hardin at 731-989-6956.

The theme of the meal is USA Coast to Coast Cuisine. It includes tastes and flavors from the New England Dock, featuring fish and chips, clam chowder and blueberry buckle; New Orleans buffet with sauteed shrimp, grits, sausage and chicken jambalaya; West Coast Fusion with Korean tacos, Kung Pao chicken wings and Korean-style bok choy; and the Heartland Comfort menu includes roast beef, rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans and apple pie with ice cream. Ticketed guests are invited to visit every food station.

What began as a two-week camp at Chickasaw State Park more than 60 years ago has expanded to a 77-acre site just off of U.S. 45 South. With its slogan, “a special place where good things happen,” MSYC is operated by Freed-Hardeman University and serves as a place for young people to grow closer to God and to each other during eight weeks of summer and one weekend each fall.
