Henderson, Tennessee – (Dec. 14, 2023) – Designed to recognize and support exceptional students in their higher education pursuit, the Trustees’ Scholarship at Freed-Hardeman University provides up to $17,500 annually to qualifying students.

All first-time freshmen with a minimum national ACT composite score of 30 or 1360 SAT score on the reading/writing and math portions and a minimum high school GPA of 3.00 are automatically eligible for this scholarship. Transfer students are also eligible for this scholarship if they qualified for it while in high school. It is applicable for up to eight regular semesters, provided the student maintains a 3.4 cumulative college GPA.

David R. Shannon, president of Freed-Hardeman University, is enthusiastic about this program. “The Trustees’ Scholarship embodies FHU’s commitment to academic excellence. We are proud to offer this generous award to deserving students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their academic pursuits,” he said.

Applicants for the Trustees’ Scholarship must apply for admission to FHU and supply a three-year high school transcript and a national ACT, SAT or Classic Learning Test score. The award is for full-time students who live in university housing.

Although the Trustees’ Scholarship cannot be combined with athletic scholarships, it offers a transformative opportunity for students to excel academically and pursue their passions with financial support.

“We encourage outstanding high school students to apply for the Trustees’ Scholarship,” Shannon said. “This generous award will assist them as they work toward a baccalaureate degree from a Christian college that values them as individuals and supports their pursuit of excellence in all aspects of their lives.”

The mission of Freed-Hardeman University is to help students develop their God-given talents for His glory by empowering them with an education that integrates Christian faith, scholarship and service. With locations in Henderson and Memphis, FHU offers associates, bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees.
